Volvo of Denver Testimonials

(11-3-10) FROM VOLKSWAGENS TO CADILLACS "Beco, Inc. of Commerce City, CO is a 250 truck fleet involved in contract mail and general freight carriage. Their slip-seat operations are high mileage, averaging 250,000 miles per year per unit, and they typically turn their trucks at the million mile mark. It is essential to their operations that they have two of the most basic fundamentals in our industry – good fuel economy and minimum downtime. They purchased their very first Volvo trucks in 2008. In 2009 they purchased both Volvo and Freightliner trucks (10 of each), and this year they purchased 30 total units – all Volvo trucks. There are now 41 Volvo trucks in their fleet, all Volvo powered. 30 of those 41 trucks contain our 2010 technology – 20 VNL daycabs with D13 375-hp SCR engines and 10 VNL 630s with D13 435-hp SCR engines. The sleepers have been on the road about two months and the daycabs are just now going into service. I was with the general manager, Bruce Hoger, on the second day the sleepers were in service and while visiting he received two phone calls, both from drivers, thanking him for allowing them to drive the nicest riding, nicest driving truck they've ever driven. Those 10 units have already racked up a lot of miles and are delivering increased fuel economy. They've also been very reliable – no issues. Hoger reported that the rest of his (non-Volvo) drivers are now wanting to know when they can trade in their 'Volkswagens' and 'drive a Cadillac.'"

(11-9-10) THEY'RE DRINKING THE KOOL-AID "Denney Transport is an interstate freight carrier specializing in LTL refrigerated freight and refrigerated truckloads. Their fleet size is 110 units, 105 of which are Volvo trucks, all purchased within the last six years. These are primarily VN 670s and 730s. All of their Volvo units are Volvo powered. The most recent 20 are VN 730s with D13 475-hp SCR engines with Eco-Torque. These were delivered the first week of September and the feedback to date is very positive. Their drivers like the performance and fuel economy has gone up. While the results by unit vary, it looks like on average they have gained a half-mile per gallon over their previous trucks. Mike Denney, president, who started the company in 1994, was invited to the Volvo 360 event in Baltimore earlier this year. At the conclusion of the event he came up to me and said 'I'm drinking the Kool-aid.' He felt that Volvo had done its homework and was the only true viable solution to today's requirements. We've even had a couple of Denney drivers come in to talk to us about performance bonus and how best to utilize it. They were intrigued by the vehicle's ability to help them operate it in a more fuel efficient way."
